Rihanna wore a ladylike dark olive green frock as she attended a photocall for the film ‘Battleship’ with co-star Brooklyn Decker, who outshone the singer with a sexy cut-out dress.

The former swimwear model, 24, stood out in a black and white frock with criss-cross patterning, that showed off her skin with mesh cut outs. Decker went for smoky eyes, with her blonde hair a a messy ponytail.

Trend – Red: Though red is hard to pull off a colour that clashes with the carpet you’re on but this year, these fearless females went all out and wore red in every shade. Michelle Williams wore Louis Vuitton, Emma Stone chose Giambattista Valli, Natalie Portman wore vintage Dior, Livia Giuggioli wore bespoke Valentino, Janet McTeer wore red, with a plunging neckline.

Trend – White: White ruled this fashion season at the Oscars red carpet too. Gwyneth Paltrow picked caped Tom Ford, Rooney Mara wore Givenchy, Shailene Woodley wore Valentino, Kelly Ripa wore Carolina Herrera and Princess Charlene of Monaco chose Akris.

Trend – Blue and Green: Shades of blue, green went to the Oscars this year. Glenn Close wore Zac Posen, Bo Derek, Penelope Cruz wore Armani Prive, Maria Menuonos wore Maria Lucia Hohan, Missy Pyle wore Valentino Delfino and Esperanza Spalding was simple in soft blue.

Trend – Dark: Interestingly, there was no sea of black on the red carpet. Dark dresses were represented by Angelina Jolie showed off her right leg through a Versace, Tina Fey fit the right note in Carolina Herrera after getting it wrong for two consecutive years, and Melanie Griffith.

Trend – Metallic: Best Actress winner Meryl Streep looked very much like an Oscar herself in gold Lanvin gown while George Clooney’s girlfriend Stacy Keibler wore Marchesa.

Trend – Embellished: These stars chose dresses that came with jewellery built in. Maya Rudolph wore Johanna Johnson, Melissa McCarthy picked Marina Rinaldi, Sandra Bullock wore Marchesa, and Kelly Osbourne was in Badgeley Mischka.

Trends began to emerge on the runways from the New York Fashion week and the one message that was universal was “cover up.”

Strong, structured outerwear, military wear with gloves have emerged as the over powering trend for fall 2012. Wes Gordon and Olivier Theysken borrowed heavily from menswear silhouettes. Carolina Herrera showcased sculpted, three-quarter-sleeve cropped jackets over ballgowns. Jason Wu showed lace-overlaid military jackets. Yigal Azrouel had leather-heavy collections. Phillip Lim showed urban-edged sportswear.

The hot material this fall will be leather with fur or knit accents.

The “it” color combination of the season is most definitely going to be black and navy blue, while burgundy might be the new black.

Reptile print isn’t going away and keep the white for winter.
